signals is the label from the guys behind the newcastle based club night road to rimini in the uk and for their first pressing they present uk duo the one. the one are drummer joe ryan and vocalist emeson nwolie. for this, their debut 12inch, they offer two sublime cuts that give delicate nods to the vocal chicago house of fingers inc and the 80s soul of alexander o neal, jam & lewis and the s.o.s band. remix comes courtesy of den haags finest, legowelt (aka danny wolfers) who provides a deep chicago, smacked out version of the title track. an edition of 200 hand numbered, 12inch black vinyl with limited a3 artwork insert.

after his big success with nobody likes the records that i play or youre no good for me tocadisco is back with a great new track. dr moog is a fantastic and unique electro-house track with beautiful beats that reminds to the old days of tocadisco. the idiotproof remix goes directly into the head ...

ltj – go man go - classic ltj! killer track, based around a synth loop, vocal and a real strong groove. a firm disco tune that will be loved on the dance floor!
alien trick – black mystic prayer (jfk rework) - jfk is bang on form with this rework! a deep and hypnotic track that has a real dark feel and a beat that rocks. the bass line carries the song throughout, another hit for the club!

the recent time and space machine album released on tirk caused quite a stir. received by fans, press and pundits with a bright glowing prodigiousness, we just had to have one final foray into the 12 inch single department. the albums title track set >phazer to stun< was always a favourite with pulsating krautrock influences, nicely melded with some dirt cheap farfisa organ, freakbeat drumming and (of course) plenty of phazer.

12inch full of music with a definite sense of place. eerie synthesiser pulses, funk-infused drums and languid guitar-scapes have been part of the musical topology of düsseldorf since the early seventies: and this particular release pays full tribute to that legacy, with jagd auf den hirsch (hunt for the stag) comprising an eerie piece of swampy lazer-forest rock. this sound is also a modern day staple of düsseldorfs nightlife at the salon des amateurs, a small bar attached to the kunsthalle art gallery that is an oasis of hypnotic disco nightmares. the salon is where der räuber und der prinz made their first live appearance in 2008 (when the original composition for moogwalzer was debuted), and both members of the band frequently play there: ralf beck with his bodyrocking club act unit 4 and sebastian as half of art-rock duo noblesse oblige. meanwhile two of the guests on this release - detlef weinrich also known as toulouse lowtrax, contributing words about a ghostly maiden on moogwalzer, and thomas klein contributing drums to jagd auf den hirsch - are both original members of the quintessential düsseldorf act kreidler. salon dj resident vladimir ivkovic also had a hand in the creative clarion call for the jagd auf den hirsch (hunt for the stag). to complete the circle, düsseldorfs new resident and desolat mainstay guti wrote his remix in the middle of the night in buenos aires, as a kind of letter to his new home-to-be. there we have it: a true tribute to a city we love, with tracks for the dancefloor as well as moments of melancholic contemplation.

>les patates<, the fresh new rrygular release by tassilo, one half of pan-pot, is not an homage to french agriculture but a serious techno smasher with high club potential. at first, theres just a nice party atmosphere and … then this rough beat drops in! the small potatoe >petite patate< surprises by adding rudimental elements like the hihat and snare drum always a little late. but you have the feeling you havent missed something yet. this number just sneaks from behind and lulls you in with billowing pads until you sense the final rave sound as a self-evident consequence of it all. the message by g-tech right before the drop proves right - there is not a lack of vibration here! its all about the mixture … and in this case its just felicitous: male choir, clanking cymbals and finally the riff that this track subsists on. tassilo knows how to send the short melody-figure through the different stages of sound design, even though it might have been lively enough without it. this gives the big potatoe >grosse patate< a level of dynamic, that most contemporary techno releases just dont provide.

born in romania in 1981, mihai popoviciu is one of the most talked about newcomers in the house and techno scene. but to call him a newcomer is a misnomer. mihai has been releasing quality music for years, on labels such as gigolo, level non zero, brise, diynamic and, of course, highgrade. since 2007 he has sworn allegiance to the highgrade flag, either alone or with production partner markus homm. he always has the ability to surprise with his music tracks produced straight to the point with no unnecessary fluff – just the uninhibited thrill and euphoria of dancing seems to empower his work. after a busy summer season playing in the clubs of europe, he is now back to work in the studio. and so comes >trapped in brakets< with three brilliant club tracks of outstanding quality, custom made for the dance floor. if you dont believe us youll have to hear them for yourself. turn up the volume and close your eyes! for those who still want more, mihai popoviciu will be releasing his debut album in may 2011 on highgrade records. time to get excited and warm up the legs for maximum dance floor effect!
